Job description
Under the direction of the Building Operations Director, the Custodial Worker is responsible for ensuring the proper care and cleaning of the program buildings, grounds & property. They provide a clean and safe environment through planning, organizing, coordinating, and performing custodial operations to maintain quality standards. In addition, the Custodial Worker liaises with the Building Operations department regarding building inspections, significant maintenance repairs or site modifications. This position is also responsible for managing inventory and ordering of maintenance and custodial-related supplies.
Regular hours: Mon-Fri, 8am - 4pm
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness, appeal, and working order of the main grounds and buildings, including offices, common areas and restrooms.
Perform minor fixes including replacing light bulbs, painting or repairing broken locks.
Complete garden and yard upkeep.
Report major repairs, property damage or vandalism to the Manager.
Perform cleaning duties in accordance with operating procedures, health and safety standards, cleaning schedule, and as directed by the Manager.
Assist with special projects as needed.
Establish and maintains collaborative relationships with clients served, team members and management, the public, contractors and partners.

Job requirements
High school diploma.
Basic knowledge of and ability to use computers including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently with minimal supervision.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Knowledge of safe work practices.
Strong sense of integrity and accountability, attention to detail.
Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, boundaries, and confidentiality.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS HELPFUL TO THIS ROLE:
Recent relevant work experience as janitor, custodian, handy person, or similar role an asset.
Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems is an asset.
Class 5 driver’s license, clean driver’s abstract is an asset but not required.
CONDITIONS OF HIRE:
Must be able to clear a Criminal Record Check working with Vulnerable Sector.
Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 50lbs as necessary.
Ability to work with person(s) served who may solicit and/or display inappropriate social or physical behaviour including inappropriate language or violence.
Valid WHMIS and First Aid/CPR or ability to obtain prior to commencing work.
